PROJECT New Sign & Landscaping

In November 2024, we finished raising a new sign that does more than show our name—it tells a story.

Crafted with stone, wood beams, and a bronze-steel emblem that rises five feet tall, the design merges a fish and a tree—symbols of faith, life, and rooted community here in the Northwoods. It lights up each night as a gentle beacon, reflecting our refreshed identity and our desire to be a place of welcome, healing, and spiritual growth for everyone in Boulder Junction.

But the transformation doesn’t stop at the sign.

After repainting the church building in the summer of 2024 with natural Northwoods tones of cabin and stone, we’re now turning our attention to the land around us. Landscaping has begun and will continue throughout the coming year—not just to make the property more beautiful, but to make it more usable and welcoming for everyone.

What many people don’t know is that the church owns the two-acre wooded lot next to the building. Our dream is to turn that space into something sacred and serene: walking paths, places to sit, pray, reflect, and enjoy the beauty of this region we all love. In time, it will also include a forest-inspired labyrinth made of natural materials—inviting a slower, more soulful rhythm into our lives.

This land will be for both church and community—woven into our worship, our gatherings, and our shared life. Whether you’re here for a Sunday morning, a weekday walk, or just passing through town, we hope you’ll find rest, renewal, and gratitude here.

PROJECT Annex Building

Just steps from our main building stands a structure once nearly forgotten, once rejected—now being brought back to life.

What used to be the church parsonage until around 2000 —and later, a hub for children and youth ministry—had fallen into disrepair in recent years. For a time, it sat unused, musty, and silent. Many thought its story was over. Even our Vision Team once considered tearing it down. But through prayer and discernment, something shifted. We began to see not what it was, but what it could be.

We believe God gave us fresh eyes and a renewed purpose for this place.

Now officially named The Gathering Place, the building is being reborn as a welcoming space for both church and community. With ongoing renovations throughout this year and next, it will soon host a wide variety of gatherings: classes and workshops, family celebrations like weddings or reunions, and special events that bring people together.

A core part of this vision is creating a space just for youth—especially during long winters when opportunities are limited. We envision cozy nights, fun activities, theater programs, and an environment where teens can be themselves, connect, and grow—whether they’re part of the church or not.

The transformation is already underway. Demolition and prep work have been happening all summer, and we’re grateful for the many hands—both from the church and the community—who have jumped in to help. As we move into the next phase, we’ll need even more help—especially from those with skills in construction, carpentry, painting, and other trades.

If you’d like to lend a hand or offer your skills, we’d love to hear from you. This isn’t just about restoring a building—it’s about building something beautiful together. (Call Dennis Duke at 508-740-1539 for more info.)

The Gathering Place

This project is a key piece of our Rooted Campaign, as we prepare to celebrate our church’s 100th anniversary in the summer of 2027.

From forgotten building to future gathering place—this is more than construction. It’s restoration. It’s resurrection. And we can’t wait to open the doors and see it rise again.
